A STUDY
A STUDY is an ongoing creative workshop by New Works that creates limited-edition objects born from material experimentation.
It is a creative initiative, designed as a space for exploration—a pursuit rather than a product—an exercise in curiosity where process, materials, craft, and the sensory affluence of tactile experiences takes precedence. Free from commercial constraints, it is an ongoing dialogue with artisans and craftspeople, driven by curiosity and the desire to learn.
There are no strict rules defining what an A STUDY project should be. Instead, it is guided by passion and creative freedom, embracing risk and experimentation. At its core, A STUDY is about listening—to the craft, the hands that shape it, and the stories embedded in each piece.
A STUDY is a passionate exploration of material and form, undertaken by the New Works design team with the help of selected artisans. It distils New Works’ values to their core—focusing on honest materials, expert craftsmanship, and experimental production techniques that poetically reveal each material’s true character. With an artistic approach, A STUDY gives rise to objects of unexpected beauty, forming a collection that grows organically over time.

NAWARA CUP by Wilma Nawara
A shared curiosity for the inherent beauty, tactility and function of clay brought New Works A STUDY together with ceramic artist Wilma Nawara. Based in Portugal, Wilma works with raw, unrefined clay, drawing inspiration from the rugged coastal landscape of Ferrel, where she collects wild clay and studies the shifting textures of sand and stone. Her experimental and holistic approach aligns seamlessly with A STUDY’s ethos—an ongoing exploration of materiality, where process and intuition take the lead.

A STUDY 001—the Blæhr Vase—marks the first chapter of A STUDY. Designed by Linnea Ek Blæhr, it explores the poetry of mouth-blown glass, celebrating form and texture. Its organic silhouette holds the memory of its making—echoing the fluid nature of glass, a moment of movement stilled in time.
