Sartorial Living

On the occasion of 3daysofdesign 2022 in Copenhagen, New Works opened the doors to a new exhibition designed in collaboration with Lotta Agaton Interiors.

Inspired by tailored menswear and classic interiors, the exhibition proposes a sartorial elegance celebrating craftsmanship and timeless pieces. An interior that evolves around the oppositions that define New Works and continue to propel it forward. Light and dark. Classic and contemporary. Raw and refined.

Alongside the existing collection, the exhibition displays a number of new additions to the range. With longevity being the key, we are pleased to present our vision of the quintessential wall shelf. Understated, versatile and refined, the New Works shelving system is a minimal, modular wall shelf, which can be tailored to a wide variety of spaces and needs. Visitors will discover some of the possible configurations unfold as they make their way through the airy rooms, which house the New Works showroom.

Throughout the exhibition, New Works’ ongoing fascination with materials and artisanal elements sets the scene, inviting you to dwell on details and qualities. Grand and intimate lounges and dining areas embrace you with harmony and warmth, courtesy of the range of textured textiles and the palette of rich brown hues and soft creamy shades. Subtle stripes and tweed-like qualities are mixed with chunky textures and warm wood to create a sophisticated and soothing space.

The showing also includes previews of the Atlas tables by John Astbury, a line of sturdy coffee tables in which a brutalist expression is countered by the elegance of polished stone. It is such subtle contradictions, the play of form and materiality, which create the balanced nature that is New Works.

Once again our Copenhagen home transforms as we move across and around the spectrum of our core values, honoring craftsmanship, tactility, the experimental and the natural. We hope you will continue to follow our journey.

The dialogue between opposing elements continues across the exhibition. The straight lines and meticulous precision found in shelving and upholstery are accompanied by bold geometries and pieces with a sculpted feel. Like the mouth blown Blæhr vase, which returns by popular demand, and the Bukowski chair, a new design by Steven Bukowski with a strong mid-century modern vibe and a striking curvaceous silhouette.

New Works presents a collection at the intersection between old and new. Light and dark. Design and art. Our work pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality, whilst challenging the contemporary forms of today. We collaborate with an international group of renowned designers and artists, who display a matching fascination with sculptural forms and honest materials. These collaborative pursuits convey our love of the sensual, and of the bold.
