During 3daysofdesign, we unveiled a number of new additions to the collection. We are pleased to present the Bukowski Chair, the New Works Shelving System and Atlas Coffee Tables. All items will arrive in Fall 2022.
A throwback to mid-century modern? Not quite. Extreme proportions lend themselves to an elegant and surprising form in this update to an old classic. A smooth, yet decisive, shift between solid and slender creates the chair's curvaceous legs, played out like a lively dance with the material. Meanwhile the balance of the weight towards the ground gives the chair a strong and monumental feel. Centred in the sculptural structure is an upholstered seat, making it possible to create different looks through the combinations of wood and textile. With its bold geometry, the Bukowski chair shows off a striking silhouette, instantly recognisable, indefinably familiar, and completely its own.

Sometimes the simplest pieces prove to be the most difficult to find, say, the quintessential wall shelf. With understated details and intelligible flexibility, the New Works shelving system aims to be just that. Designed to effortlessly blend into a variety of spaces, this simple shelving system continues New Works’ ongoing quest of creating elevated basics. Nothing is surplus and everything has been carefully attended to, like the angular profiles of the wall bars and the integrated bookends that keep your belongings in place. The shelves are neatly assembled with flat knurled screws in stainless steel, adding an honest yet refined detail to the design. A system that is meant to grow - in your home and in range – to accommodate various storage needs.

Named after the mythical Titan condemned to hold up the heavens on his shoulders, the solid legs of the Atlas table stand strongly as support for the spacious tabletop. The meeting and contrast between the legs and the tabletop is central to the design, where each element exaggerates the other giving the table its distinct presence and brutalist feel. For Atlas, John Astbury has taken inspiration from several influences in architectural history. There are references to porticoes and colonnades, but Atlas builds mainly on the archetypal post-and-lintel construction. Combined with simple geometry, the circle and the square, it is the primary archetypes that together create the table's character and composition.

On the occasion of 3daysofdesign 2022 in Copenhagen, New Works opened the doors to a new exhibition designed in collaboration with Lotta Agaton Interiors. Inspired by tailored menswear and classic interiors, the exhibition proposes a sartorial elegance celebrating craftsmanship and timeless pieces. An interior that evolves around the oppositions that define New Works and continue to propel it forward. Light and dark. Classic and contemporary. Raw and refined.
