Tabula: An exhibition for 3daysofdesign 2021

As the longer days slowly fade, New Works opens the doors to bright and airy premises, created in collaboration with Lotta Agaton Interiors. A shift from shadowy, muted tones to a brighter palette marks new beginnings and lights up in the dark season ahead.

With the intent of creating a space where one can bring oneself in and draw with bold lines, the exhibition plays on the idea of a white canvas. The name TABULA, the latin word for tablet, conveys the concept of a frame for creation – alluding also, to the term tabula rasa, which has been used in philosophy as a notion for the self as a clean tablet, where thoughts and impressions are placed. TABULA offers a place to breathe, rethink and nurture the emotional side of creativity.

Florence Coffee & Side Table in new White Viola marble editions

Image

Step into a tranquil library that encourages reading and material studies and enter a spacious studio where massive marble tables make room for sketching, scribbles, and model building. When in need of a pause, let the mind wander from the comfort of one of the soft lounges and immerse yourself in the raw and refined textures found throughout the atelier.

In the white, lofty atelier, light flows in from the outside and the passage of the sun gives each room and surface its own shade of white. White-toned furnishings and objects create a monochromatic impression that calms the eye and highlights silhouettes and material qualities.

Explore the premises to experience New Works core collection of furniture, lighting and objects put into play alongside extensions to the Florence line and the new Margin lighting series designed by John Astbury.

New Works presents a collection at the intersection between old and new. Light and dark. Design and art. Our work pays homage to the strong Scandinavian history of craftsmanship and materiality, whilst challenging the contemporary forms of today. We collaborate with an international group of renowned designers and artists, who display a matching fascination with sculptural forms and honest materials. These collaborative pursuits convey our love of the sensual, and of the bold.
